City scapes
City scapes, mostly at night. When I walk through the city I am fascinated by a brown-gray faces of the buildings. When it gets dark, I am mesmerized by the play of lights. I always comes down to how the light falls; light and dark faces. Many of my paintings are dominated by perspective and lines that divide the total surface in pieces.

Freedom
2013Court of justice Amsterdam, seen from the "IJ". I just liked the contrast between the court, which I associate with jail, and the free seagulls. They also visually differ; by shape; square vs streamlined.
The next customer
2012Streetcar in Toronto, always a pretty sight. The prostitute in the door post could't care less, she's patiently waiting for the next customer. Maybe the streetcar brings one.
The Corner, NY
2013"The Corner" in New York. A passepartout and a frame 60x60 cm is included.
Two worlds
2010Cycling on a wet street. A very Dutch thing to do. Because a large part of the painting is made of reflection, but the bike and the tire tracks are not, you are in fact looking at two worlds concurrently. Holland and mirrorland.
Lost in the fog
2010In this painting most white areas are created by scraping away the blue paint under which a layer of white paint was put first.
